Marandino’s Supermarket began in 1947 with Bias and Evelyn Marandino, where they opened and ran a small market in Bloomfield, CT. The initial store was moved to New Hartford, CT in 1963, and it was the first to bear the family’s namesake. In 1970, the Marandino family bought the land for and built the Marandino Plaza Shopping Center in New Hartford, CT, where Marandino’s Supermarket lives today.
Peter and John Marandino, Bias and Evelyn’s sons, became involved with the business three years later, assisting their father with daily management and the business’s further growth. Since then, Marandino’s Supermarket has expanded twice to achieve its current size, evolving into a one-stop grocery shop with a lush produce department; butcher-style meat department offering incredible savings with its Butcher’s Bundles; full-service deli; ever-expanding organic, local, gourmet & specialty, and gluten-free sections; great service; and a bright, clean space.
Today, you can always find Peter and John in the aisles—keeping them spotless and working directly with customers to answer questions. They will quickly open a register to help cashiers ring groceries so that customers never have to wait in a line. Our core values remain the same as they did from day one, and we don’t believe in taking shortcuts to maintain them. Fresh meats and produce, friendly team members, and an immaculate store have all been key to our success, as well as open communication. We’ll work with you to help with anything you need while keeping our prices fair—it’s our priority!
